OFFICAL VISIT OF THE NZPM

Tuesday, 17 July 2007 was the offical visit of The Right Honourable Helen Clark, Prime Minister of New Zealand came to SMK Raja Perempuan Kelsom, Kuala Kangsar to visit KPerak E-Learning Cluster Programme. Below was the programme that was carried out :


10.00 a.m. - Arrival of the NZPM at Kuala Kangsar by helicopter from Kuala Lumpur
10.30 a.m. - Arrival of the NZPM at SMK RPK, Kuala Kangsar
- Welcome by principal and students of SMK RPK
- Students demonstrates their achievement to delegates
- Virtual study tour
- Speech by Minister of Education Malaysia, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein
- Concluding Speech by NZPM
- Presentation of gift to NZPM by Principal of SMK RPK
- Signing of visitor book by the NZPM
- Photography session with principal and teachers of 5 different school

Introduction of KPerak E-Learning Cluster No.1

This initial project involved 5 very different schools in the State of Perak, primary and secondary, urban and rural.

  • SK Sri Adika Raja, Gerik
  • SK Seri Bayu, Lumut
  • SMK Raja Perempuan Kelsom, Kuala Kangsar
  • SMK Matang, Matang
  • SK Seri Ampang, Ipoh

This project involves intensive in school professional development supported face to face with a team of facilitators and online with all schools participating in one online community. The online community allows schools and teachers to engage with each other and international educators and students. This cluster project is based upon proven research and international best pratice.

The project has an emphasis on encouraging teachers to adapt their pratice to make learning more compelling and dynamic for learners. For learners the shift is from more passive learning modes to self-managing, hands-on, enquiry modes to develop their creativity, problem-solving and communication skills.

The KPerak E-learning Cluster is collaboration between KPerak INC Corporation, Innovation New Zealand Education, the Ministry of Education and the Perak State Department of Education.
